Background:

Born on 15 May 1982 in Durban, Dane Wilson is one of two Team Icexpress members with a cycling background. He resides in Pretoria and works in Human Resources as a Human Capital Manager.

Social Responsibility

Dane was born with ‘congenital absence’ of the lower part of his left arm due to an entanglement occurring in the womb.

On the question of inspiration Dane answers, “What inspires me is to inspire others, whether able-bodied or disabled, to get off their respective butts and achieve their own potential in whatever it is that inspires them.”

Recent Results:

Dane competed in the LC1 18.5 Time Trail Road Cycling event for the first time at the 2010 Nedbank National Paracycling Championships.

He won the Silver with a time of 33:21.68 – Gold going to WP’s James van Rensburg and Bronze to Irish Matcheke from Central Gauteng.

Dane has a background in Track Sprinting and Mountain Biking.

Personal Aspirations:

“My goal for 2010 as a whole is to maintain a balance between my spiritual, family, career, and sporting aspirations. My specific goal for the 2010 SA Championships is to ride competitively enough to get on the radar for possible selection to the SA 2012 Paralympic squad.”
