Background:
Twenty year old Jean Joubert was born in Klerksdorp on 30 October 1989. His home is on a farm in Ottosdal, while his home away from home is Stellenbosch University. He is a Sports & Recreation student and Maties sportsman.

Social Responsibility

An accident on his father’s farm involving a fodder mixer caused the amputation of first, his right foot on 1 April 2000, and then his leg (above the knee) on the 7 of that month.
Jean has been working with Team Icexpress since 2009.
Athletic Events:
F44 Javelin
F44 Shot Put
F44 Discus

Recent Results:

In April 2009, Jean took the Gold for each of his events at the SA Disabled Games while also achieving his personal best distances. These were:

F44 Discus: 36.37m
F44 Javelin: 39.59m
F44 Shotput: 11.59m

At the 2010 Nedbank National Championships, Jean took Gold in all three his events and broke the
SA Record in the F44 Men’s Javelin with his throw of 37.09m. Other distances were:

F44 Shoptput - 11.38m for Gold
F44 Discus - 35.72m for Gold

Personal Aspirations:

“My immediate goal is to qualify for the 2011 Disabled World Championships and to utilise every opportunity granted me in 2010. I am inspired by other disabled athletes, and choose to adopt a can-do attitude at all times. I would like to use my God-given talents to be a role-model to others”.
