Background:
Muhammad, born on 27 October 1996 in Durban (Natal), has a rare congenital condition called Proximal Focal Femoral Deficiency (PFFD) – his legs end high on the thigh and he has no hip connection. At the age of three, both his legs were amputated.
This Gr. 8 scholar at Pretoria Boys High is both a member of Team Icexpress as well as Icexpress’ Jumping Kids Project. He was recently featured on Carte Blanche saying that he “endeavours to do everything able-bodied kids of his age are able to do”.
Mo says about athletics, “It allows me to be as ‘normal’ as possible, to meet others facing similar challenges and, (most importantly), athletics gives me a chance to be a part of the SA Paralymic Team!”

Muhammad, who has been working with the Icexpress team for about 5 years, competed at his first qualifying meet at Pilditch on 27 February 2010. He achieved a throw of 4.7m in the F57 Shot Put event. His best distance so far is a throw of 4.9 meters.
At the 2010 Nedbank National Championships, Muhammad won the Gold medal in his class with a throw of 4.37 meters - not far from the SA Record which he aims to break.
Personal Aspirations:
“My competitive goal for the 2010 Nationals is to break the F57 Shot Put record which currently stands at 4.98 meters”.
