Physiotherapy

For years amputees has underestimated the importance of physiotherapy.

The Icexpress Progressive Prosthetics team includes a physiotherapist specializing in Amputee rehabilitation.

Just after an amputation, the patient tends to spend a lot of time sitting, thus not bending the hip and/or knee of the amputated limb.

Social Responsibility

You will also learn how to fall and what to do when you fall down.

Physiotherapy will benefit you in learning the precise refinements necessary to become a smooth, stable and importantly safe walker.

This can lead to serious contractures making the fitting and walking with a prosthesis very difficult.

The physiotherapist will develop a training and support program to accomplish optimal outcomes for each patient. This will allow the amputee the full benefits of his prosthesis.

Balance and proper weight transfer is essential to become an accomplished prosthesis walker.

Physiotherapy can teach you the simple techniques necessary to develop a good walking style.

Just as important, is to learn walking on uneven terrain, walking down stairs leg over leg and the ability to run in case of an emergency.
