Background:

Tyrone was born in Durban, Natal on 1 May 1980 and still resides in Durban today. He works as IT Technical Specialist when not chasing his goal of forming part of the SA Paralympic squad.


Social Responsibility

“The fact that I know that I can make a difference to many people’s lives by showing that there are no obstacles in life & that you can overcome anything if you have the will to succeed is what inspires me. In life it’s not only about winning but the fact that you performed at your best that counts.”

Tyrone is a below-knee amputee, condition he was born with, and he became involved with Icexpress in 2009.

Athletic Events:

F44 Discus
F44 Shot Put

Recent Results:

Tyrone won Silver in the F44 Shot Put event at the 2009 SA Championships. His personal best distances to date are F44 Discus – 36.39 meters, and F44 Shot Put – 11.10 meters.

At the 2010 Nedbank National Championships, Tyrone won the Silver medal in the F44 Discus event with a throw of 31.75m, and the Bronze in the F44 Shotput event with a throw of 09.71 meters.

Personal Aspirations:

“My goal for the 2010 SA Championships is to perform at the best of my ability and obtain medals in both my events. My goal for 2010 in general is to make the SA squad.”
